BIOGRAPHY and GENEALOGY

Dallas County, Alabama
Moses Adler, a merchant, was born in 1821, at Henchelheim, Germany. He emigrated to New Orleans in 1850, engaged in merchandising; afterwards carried on business at Biloxi, Miss., Port Hudson, Louisiana, New Iberia, La., Vera Cruz, Mexico, returned to New Orleans where he remained for a time.
In 1868, he became a citizen in Selma where he became a well-known merchant. Mr. Adler had a lucrative business in Selma an was among the reliable merchants by his strict integrity and fair dealing with the people. He established a character for himself that his ‘word was his bond.’ In proportion to his means, he did much to aid the impoverished planting interest in its efforts to develop and build up the agriculture of Selma.
