I remember the old wrenger type washer that my mom had to use. We moved in with my granny who had a new washer. I will never forget the fresh smell of laundry off the line.
I always wondered why my granddaddy wrote “warshed” in his daily diary. Usually just a few lines – the day’s weather, what work was being done, and if anyone visited! He kept five years diaries for many years and I am fortunate to have one.
No but I remember when my Mom did.
First, she ‘warshed’ the laundry… then ‘wrenched’ it.

Nothing like the smell of sheets that were hung out to dry. Wonderful.
Worked hard. Never had to join a gym!
