  1. Death by thin shoes? Can someone elaborate on this?

  2. I wonder, maybe a nail went thru the sole of her show and she contracted tetanus. Sad.

  3. This is from the “Book and Shoe Recorder”, 07/27/1898. https://books.google.com/books?id=8ecxAQAAMAAJ&pg=RA8-PA129&lpg=RA8-PA129&dq=“Died+of+thin+shoes”&source=bl&ots=4lnspdv3tM&sig=QolIoYU_hAbZrC-FmXsrnASdA9Q&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiAl8bp_rTZAhUF74MKHbM1CfsQ6AEIQTAJ#v=onepage&q=”Died%20of%20thin%20shoes”&f=false

    1. Apparently – at that time – thin shoes were seen as fashionable and comfortable. Thin shoes meant that a person who would often have wet and/or cold feet would often have a cold in their head or lungs, soon succumbing to death.
