“The Stephens Chapter of the DAR was organized November 10, 1904, by Chapter Organizing Regent Ellen Stephens Hildreth (Mrs. C.J.). Kate Duncan Smith, who was Alabama State Regent, signed the charter January 9, 1905….”
The date-1896- in the title of the article is not correct. DAR was formed in 1890, as is correct in the body of the article. DAR is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year on Oct. 11, 2015.

I’m a member in NC the William Bethell Chapter. I am Regent and have been given a lot of old documents to store. I found a yearbook for 1912 for the Light Horse Harry Lee Chapter in Auburn, Ala.
Is anyone interested in getting this?

You omitted the Fort Bower chapter of which my wife is a member.
The United Daughters of the Confederacy does the same things and is a wonderful organization of ladies. I love being a member of both patriotic charity organizations! Happy 200th Birthday Alabama!!
Don’t forget the Stephens Chapter in Decatur, AL. Founded in 1904, it is still active in 2014.

They are missing a few chapters in the article. Interesting as history, though.
