BIOGRAPHY and GENEALOGY

Lauderdale County, Alabama

Clavin Price Anderson was a teacher and legislator. He was born November 7, 1875, at Cloverdale. near Florence, Lauderdale County, the son of John A. and Marguerite Ellen (Anderson) Anderson, of Cloverdale. He was educated in the common schools of his county, at the State normal college, Florence and graduated from the advanced course in pedagogy in 1896. He engaged in teaching, August 1896 and was a representative in the Alabama legislature in 1900.

Calvin Anderson was the author of a bill appropriating $10,000, for repairs and enlargement of the Normal college, Florence which was approved December 1900. He became tax commissioner for Lauderdale in 1901. Afterward, he pursued the profession of teaching in Lauderdale and Madison Counties.

He was a Democrat and a Methodist. He may have married and moved to Oklahoma by 1910.

HENRY ANDERSON DROWNED. Former Florence Man Meets Sudden Death in Florida.  Henry C. Anderson, a former citizen of Florence, was drowned at Boca Grande, Florida, a few days ago, according to a telegram received here Wednesday by Mr. C. W. Ashcraft. Mr. Anderson’s home here was identified by a letter signed by Mr. Ashcraft which was found on his body. He was in the employ of the Tampa Dredging Company, and his life was largely spent on the water. The body was interred in Florida.  Mr. Anderson and his family moved to Florida about two years ago, but the family returned here about a year ago because that climate was unfavorable to their health. He remained there, while his family resided here. He is survived by his wife and seven children. He leaves also three brothers and a sister, Mrs. Jesse Darby and Will and Lee Anderson of this county and Calvin Anderson of Oklahoma.
