I have been hooked on genealogy and documenting family history for years now.  In my journey through many historical documents, I am deeply appreciative of the vast amount of research prior ancestors recorded and other family historians have contributed and shared with me.  Now it is time to share this wonderful information with others before it becomes lost.

Many people have often asked me why I started the journey to document family history and I had a difficult time explaining my passion until I saw the movie “Amistad”.  When I heard the words “We are what we were” in the movie, I suddenly realized that these words accurately depicted my enthusiasm.  When we understand our ancestors’ motivations, character and beliefs, we also understand ourselves.

As I followed the paper trails and family histories left by our ancestors, I became particularly engrossed in the stories that reflected their personalities.  I discovered quite a few notable American families originated in Alabama and I will be sharing there biographies on this site in the days to come as well as the people who make up the backbone of America...the "not so notables."  I hope you will enjoy their stories as much as I have while researching in Alabama.

Alabama Pioneers made the news in the Tannehill Trader!  Read all about me in the November, 2008 issue here.  They even have a picture of me....umm..not sure you will want to see that.

The following cozy mystery THE TATTLETALE PARROT was written by my mother Ellorine Cottingham Morgan and was published four months before she passed away in 2006.  She loved family  history and inspired me to do further research on our family history. Everyone really loved her book.

I only wish she was still around to hear the praise.
