(A few weeks ago, I requested readers to email stories of the Viet Nam era to share. This is one of the stories emailed to me. I will be publishing several more in the month of January. Hopefully, we as a nation have learned and will not make the same mistakes in treatment of our soldiers again.)

VIET NAM STORY

During the Viet Nam war, the people of San Diego, CA where there is a Marine Base would put on their front lawns." Dogs and Marines Keep Off" My husband was in the Air Force and his duty was a Security Guard to the Air Force Academy. We went to eat at the Beef Eaters in Colorado Springs and were denied to eat there due to Mike being in his military uniform.

Mike was schedule to go to the are of Viet Nam, but I was 6 months along with Melody. He boarded the bus and they took him off. Instead we went from Fresno, CA to Colorado Springs where he did the above duty.

At the completing of his 4 year hitch we flew back to CA and stayed first with his parents and then with mine. He finally obtained a job in security for a hospital.

My memories are not favorable. Our second child was born prematurely and is buried in Colorado.

For Mike, well he divorced me in 92 and is now in a nursing home after having a stroke.

For me, I now have a wonderful Christian husband and together we have started two food ministries in CA. They are still going under different leadership since we are in TN.

We have a choice either to forgive those who wronged us or not. For me, I forgive. It is in the past.
