TRULY ALABAMA SAYINGS

I've added many new articles in  Alabama Memories and you do not have to be a REGISTERED MEMBER to read them so be sure and check them out. While working on the genealogy articles. I ran across some old sayings I remember my parents and grandparents using. These sayings have virtually disappeared from our language today and I thought it would be fun to recall some of them before they are forgotten. One of the sayings I ran across was “Root Hog or die.” I really don't understand exactly what it means or where it came from. Please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you know the meaning.

I thought it would be fun to have a contest with these old sayings but I need to collect them first and I need your help. If you recall an old Alabama saying from your parents or grandparents and know the meaning of it, please email both the saying and meaning to me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . When I have collected enough “old Alabama sayings,” we'll have a contest with a prize being awarded and all the “sayings” will be listed on a page with your name credited on www.alabamapioneers.com so everyone put your “thinking caps” on as my mother used to say and email me those “truly Alabama sayings.”
