Tannehill Trader article and Alabama Pioneers | Blog

It has certainly been an exciting week. I was recently interviewed by Bonnie Bailey of the Tannehill Trader about Alabama Pioneers and her article was in their November edition this month. You can read all about me here . Now, everyone knows what I look like...I don't know if that is good or bad!! I think the photographer did the best they could with the material (me) they had. Bonnie is a very good writer and I enjoyed spending time with her. I was certainly surprised to be on the front page!

The article has been very helpful to www.alabamapioneers.com because I have been contacted by many people willing to share their stories. I have included a story from one of the authors of IMAGES OF AMERICA: BIBB COUNTY, Vicky Clemmons here. Other author's articles will be forthcoming. Send me your stories to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it    Rachelle Ray sent quite a few "Alabama Sayings" recently and you will see them in upcoming Blogs.

The book IMAGES OF AMERICA: BIBB COUNTY was released NOVEMBER 3, 2008 and would make a great Christmas gift...when you purchase one...be sure to let them know that you read about it on www.alabamapioneers.com

Here is the Publishing Company's Press Release and photo of the book:

0738567299.jpgBibb County history is documented in more than 200 vintage images in the new book from Vicky Clemmons, David Daniel and the Centreville Historic Preservation Commission.  Bibb County is the latest title in Arcadia Publishing’s Images of America series and chronicles those people and places which have contributed to the development of the state of Alabama, found right here at home in Bibb County

The authors hope “readers enjoy this glimpse back into the area’s history and are able see what makes Bibb County what it is today.”

Highlights of Bibb County:

·   Tannehill and Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Parks

·   Residents, landmarks, and events

·   Talledega National Forest

·   Oakmulgee Wildlife Management Area, and the Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge

·   Bibb County’s timber industry

Profits from book sales will be donated to The Centreville Historic Preservation Commission for historic restoration of BibbCounty.

The Centreville Historic Preservation Commission has selected the best images from its extensive collection of photographs and called on the most knowledgeable of our citizens to narrate this visual history of a county located in the middle of the state.
