Questions about the Website???? PDF Print E-mail

Whew...The website is finally launched! Maybe, I can take a breather.  I want to take this time to thank you for all the nice comments I have received concerning the website.  I also appreciate those who have taken the time to correct any errors you may have noticed. I promise I will not be upset by any critiques...this website will only be as good as you help me make it.  I would especially like to thank Deb, Jacque and Michelle for their information and corrections. My future plans include sharing documentation, and pictures with everyone but I’m still working out the details on that aspect with my web designer.

I’d thought I’d take this time to answer a few questions that seem to be recurring themes.

Index to Alabama Wills, 1808-1870

1. What are my plans for http://www.alabamapioneers.com

If you can visualize completing a puzzle, then that is what I am trying to do with http://www.alabamapioneers.com   In genealogy, each researcher has documentation and family information about their individual Alabama pioneers and their data sometimes overlaps with another researcher’s data. If each researcher shared his/her data through this website, we might eventually complete the puzzle of Alabama.  What a legacy that would be for our descendants!!

2. Will you be including other counties?

Yes, in time I plan to include other counties.  I will be adding all the counties
surrounding Bibb County first and extend out from there.  I started with Bibb because my mother’s family came from Bibb County and I had a lot of family documentation from the area from a local genealogist.. Also, Old Cahawba was the first capital and Bibb was a part of Old Cahawba and many early ancestors settled in Bibb after the Creek-Indian Wars.

3. What is the purpose of the Newsletter and why do I need to subscribe?

The purpose of the newsletter is to keep you informed of any new data added, updates I have added to the website, and queries that others may have and its FREE!  You need to subscribe because the newsletter will be sent to you via email once a month. In this way, you will not have to continually search the webpage for new data.  Remember, it is free and since this website stands to become quite large in time, the newsletter will save you a lot research time.  I will also include queries in the newsletter for anyone who has run up against one of the perennial “brick walls” in their search.

4. Why isn’t my Alabama pioneer in Bibb County listed?

I have only downloaded pioneers through page 16 of the 1850 census...so keep checking back...I’m sure they will show up soon. I try to add a few more each day. If you subscribe to the newsletter, it will keep you informed when new data has been added.

Well, I guess that’s it for now. However, I would like to make a request.  If you have a query about an ancestor, please give me as much information, regarding, dates, names, parents, and locations as you can. Many of our ancestors repeated a name frequently and without dates, locations etc., I am unable to be much help.  Thanks again for the compliments and critiques and share the word about http://www.alabamapioneers.com

The more documentation on our mutual ancestors we have...the more complete our Alabama Pioneer puzzle becomes. That can only happen with lots of descendants sharing.

Now, I think I’ll do as Jacque suggested....take a tylenol and get some rest

Have a Happy Halloween everyone!
