Remember when... you spent evenings catching fireflies with your brothers and sisters while your parents visited family and friends. you and your family were all loaded up in the station wagon on a hot summer afternoon and you went to the “The Spinning Wheel” in Birmingham, Alabama for those big frosty milkshakes served in huge ribbed glasses. (I always had trouble picking out which flavor I wanted of there many choices...wish I could remember all the flavors...) you walked barefoot in fresh mowed grass of a pasture or lawn. you went to visit your grandparents and followed little dirt one-lane roads through thick woods and over one-lane bridges. ( I always worried our tires would not stay on the little wooden boards set as tracks to follow on the bridge and we'd fall into the creek) you tied a string to a June bug and hung on to it while it flew around in circles. you got dressed up in your Sunday dress with hat and gloves to shop downtown Birmingham, Alabama at Loveman's or Pizitz. you had a Birthday Party skating at Lowe's Skating Rink in Birmingham, Alabama you could leave your windows open and doors unlocked at night while you slept without a worry. Latest ITEMS & SURNAMES listed on Alabama Pioneers include: SURNAMES INCLUDED IN DESCENDANTS OF AGRIPPA ATKINSON (b. 1777 GEORGIA d. 1833 BIBB COUNTY, ALABAMA) GRACE, SMITHERMAN, WOOD, RIGGINS, MADDOX, MADOX, MARTIN, SMITH, FRANKLIN, HUDMAN, CHILDERS, FARRIS, CHILDRESS, COLLINS SURNAMES INCLUDED IN DESCENDANTS OF JESSE ATTAWAY (b. 1796 SOUTH CAROLINA d. bef. 1870 prob.
