(1855-aft. 1921)

JEFFERSON COUNTY, ALABAMA

 

Morris Adler, coal mine operator, was born April 4, 1855, at Jonesboro, Washington County, Tennessee. He was the son of Jacob Adler and Sophie (Kahn) Adler; grandson of Meyer Adler and Caroline (Rosengart) Adler, of Buttenhansen Village, Wurtemberg, Germany, and of Moses Kahn and Clara Kahn, of Altenstadt Village, Bavaria.

He was educated in the common schools of Jonesboro; located in Birmingham, Alabama. He was engaged in various business enterprises, and with his brother, he was the owner and operator of the Corona coal mines, and the Townley coal mines.

He was a Democrat. Morris married: December 23, 1884, at Baltimore, Maryland, Mary Hartman, daughter of Sleon and Theresa Hartman. They had the following children in 1921 1. Leon M. Adler; 2. Julian E.Adler and resided in Birmingham, Alabama.
